Where are you and what is your conversation? Phil 3:20 declares, our conversation is in heaven. How is it possible that our conversation is in Heaven? Jesus Christ is there and as we are in him and he is in us we are there positionally. In a little while, we will be there and ever-present with him in a resurrection body! This body can never grow old, be subject to sickness, stress or any other malady. Where and what is your position? If you are in Christ, you have his life. If you are not in Christ, you do not have his life and are eternally condemned.
Where and what is your condition? Are you walking by means of the Holy Spirit or are you fulfilling the desires of the flesh and walking by means of your depraved and condemned sin nature?
”Bobby, what are you into now my Mother would ask?” I am so thankful that by the Grace of God it’s no longer what I am into that is so compelling, it is who is in me that makes all the difference in the world and throughout eternity!!
Where was I? I was in Adam and in Adam all die, 1 Cor 15:22, yes, but in Christ, all are MADE alive. We are MADE alive, Eph 2:1, we don’t make ourselves alive. And you hath he quickened (made alive) who were dead in trespasses and sins.
Why? Because we were dead…dead in trespasses and sins. We need to be delivered from this enslaved and dead condition but HOW can we do it if we are dead?
If we are dead, we are in a hopeless condition and we need help outside of our dead condition! If we are dead, we can’t help ourselves!
Suppose we are in a funeral home and we see a corpse in a casket and we really want to help that person and the grieving family. So, we command them to do something they can’t do and that is to help themselves. We may say, “you are not doing anything, you can do better, you are not trying! Remember “God helps those who help themselves!”
This is a horrible statement…God helps the helpless. WE ARE SLAVES TO OUR DEAD POSITION AND WE CANNOT CHANGE that CONDITION. We must go outside of ourselves because the life we need must be given from the source of spiritual life which is from someone who does not have our same dead and condemned spiritual condition.
We, as dead people, can’t DO anything except to remain in a dead condition. We are born physically alive but spiritually dead. No human being outside of ourselves can help either, because they too are totally dead.
We are not in a difficult position; we are in an impossible condition because we are dead and can’t do anything about it! Yet, we can be MADE alive!
How? Not by looking in or to yourself and certainly not because of yourself or to anyone else. This includes the President, the Pope, the Virgin Mary. Elijah, your Saintly Mother, the Apostle Paul, or any biped with a soul who lived on planet earth!
God has worked a marvelous work that is beyond human comprehension and capability. What he has done is without cause in us and without any merit whatsoever by us.
Everyone needs God’s amazing grace but no one deserves this super-abounding Grace. So, what can we do? There is a blessed provision that comes directly from God and it is called common grace.
Common Grace is not saving grace, it is a grace that is general and common to those who have reached a place that is called God-consciousness. This God consciousness is not salvation…it is an awareness of the existence of God.
At this important point, a person either wants to know God or they do not. The only way to know God is to know him through the sacrificial and completed work of Christ by personally believing on him! He is the only door to heaven! John 10:9, Acts 4:12
When an unbeliever hears the gospel, he is spiritually dead. When he (who is in this dead condition) believes in Christ, he exhibits the faith of a spiritually dead person. Therefore, how can a dead man bring himself to life? What good is the faith of a spiritually dead person?
The unbeliever is totally helpless to attain eternal salvation in this spiritually dead state. But there is good news! God the Holy Spirit, in his matchless grace, comes to the rescue of this spiritually dead person so that he can know Christ and be saved.
First, HE, the holy spirit, makes the gospel perspicuous i.e. understandable! Then HE makes faith in Christ effectual by providing the divine power to produce the intended result and purpose, i.e., salvation. “For by Grace are you SAVED through faith, which is deposited in Christ and this salvation is not from yourselves it is a gift from God and not of works, lest any man should boast” Eph 2:8,9.
